Apple Care

I just recently received an iPhone as a gift and I unfortunately got a small chip in the back of the phone. It is still eligible for Apple Care and I was wondering if I could just pay one month to fix my accidental damage or if I had to pay the next two years to be able to receive a repair? Basically, can I just pay Apple Care until my phone is fixed?

As the phone is now damaged, it is not eligible for AppleCare Plus.

Also note, if it was not damaged, no you couldn’t purchase one month of AppleCare coverage.
