Do you think the New Versatile Video Coding H.266 will work with Apple TV 4K?

It was announced yesterday and the company who have developed it has partnered with Apple.

Do you think compatibility would come with a software update - or do you think it would require new hardware.

i think it uses less internet data to stream SD, 1080p and 4K video but still has the same streaming quality as what the Apple TV uses at the moment.
