Can I use a 96W charger on my 2017 Macbook Pro - 15 inch. The laptop came with a 86W adapter but it appears to me the 86W is discontinued and they now recommend 96W instead. I'm worried about messing up the battery.

... hence my confusion. Your link says i need a 87W USB-C Power Adapter.
It appears to me the 87W USB-C Power Adapter is discontinued. It is sold out of Amazon. It is sold out of Best Buy. It appears Apple no longer offers it.
Elsewhere, Apple's website says I need a 96W adapter.
Third sentance in my link:
"You can use a compatible higher wattage power adapter without issue, but it won't make your computer charge faster or operate differently."
