Open Safari, click Preferences on the Safari menu, click General in the bar at the top of the Preferences window. The top line in that window should say "Safari is not your default browser" -- click the Set Default button.

You can also delete Chrome. It's not as secure as Safari or even Firefox.
You can also set the default browser in System Preferences > General.
