AirPods not picking audio calls by default

AirPods do not switch to audio calls by default even when paired to iPhone. The call option needs to be switched to iPhone or speaker and then back to AirPods to enable them for calls.

I tried resetting the phone and AirPods pairings. It worked for me.

Step 1- follow these steps it worked for me. go to settings >> Bluetooth >> select AirPods >> forget this device

Step 2 - repair AirPods

Bingo !! It should work now.
