Hi Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you can't enable your music library, but instead see an error message about the Genius results. We're glad to help.

We recommend signing out of your account in the Music app by going to the Account menu and choosing Sign Out.

Quit Music, and then open it again, and sign back in.

Then test to see if you can enable the library.

Take Care.

Hi Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough,

Since this still happens after signing out and signing back in, we recommend seeing if something in your user account is conflicting with Music and causing this.

We recommend that you create a new administrative user, and test to see if this happens there. This link explains how to set up a new user: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac - Apple Support

Let us know.

I created an administrative user as requested and that user was able to sync music while signed in to my Music account.

I do have music that I ripped on my normal account. Could those files confuse the sync process?

When I tell iTunes to find "Nude & Rude: The Best Of Iggy Pop" in the iTunes store it cannot, even though that album is there with the exact same name, artist, and date. I have a lot of these albums that I ripped into m4a and mp3 format, how can I tell iTunes how to sync them? Should I move them out and then reimport them?

Could recordings of my own music cause issues? Some albums also have pdf files. All of these things should be relatively easy to figure out, report on, or flag in some way so they can be addressed manually if necessary.

Yes, plenty of music from CDs etc, but that is supposed to still work.

When I "rebuilt" the library I went into the Apple Music Package and deleted the library files. This also deletes all your playlists and resets your playcounts and Date Added fields, so beware of that. I spent hours backing them all up and then deleted my library file, booted up the fresh empty itunes, imported my music again and then put all my playlists back.

The theory was based on this guy's experience, it worked for him. But not for me :(

Same error afterwards. I'd really love a solution to this. As of now I'm getting zero value from the $25/year price I paid to Apple. I don't even want a refund, I want this to work!
