I ordered a apple watch and it says it will come 8 December and Im wondering why it takes so long?

Apple watch release date! I'm interested in buying an Apple watch series 5 but in the keynote they said the apple watch is available from the 20th September, when I go to order one it says 6-7 weeks untill it is shipped! Could do with some advice as I'm not sure in which one is correct!

High demand, shipping is limited, the fact there's a pandemic occurring. Multitude of reasons.
