You need to differentiate between the Apple TV+ and the Apple TV APP.

A- The Apple TV+ is a streaming service (like Netflix), it's media material, not an App. https://www.apple.com/ca/apple-tv-app/

B- The Apple TV APP is an application, is streams all kinds of material from many media suppliers (including Apple TV+ material). https://tv.apple.com

What you have got is 1 year free Apple TV+ but if you try to watch something from other media partners on the Apple tv APP, then you will have to pay them.

Your subscription is for Apple TV +

Apple TV + is Apple Original content. It’s a channel found within the Apple TV App. The shows included in your subscription will have the tv+ logo on them - those are free with your subscription

There are other channels and iTunes content in the TV App that requires payment - in other words there is no Apple TV Plus App. It’s free Apple TV Plus not free Apple TV.
