How do I get it to show visual voicemail?

Read this carefully. It sounds like your cellular carrier does not support visual voicemail.
My carrier is Verizon and their site says they do support visual voicemail and my number shows Basic Visual Voicemail as active.
Yes. I had to contact Verizon. They had to change something on my account and I had to restart my phone.
