I am trying to download macOS Big Sur but I can't because when I click on upgrade now there is notification appears saying that "An error occurred while installing the selected updates."
Could you pls explain me why?

Same issue many people are having. I think Apple blew it this time - concerned that there may be issues even after install. Thinking about going back to Windows after 20 years of Apple. Disappointed. Not Steve Job's company anymore.
It's just a server issue, that's all. Nothing to do with a fault in the new operating system. Does it really matter if you can't install it the day it releases? It's not like you won't ever be able to install it.

There are a LOT of users trying to download right now.
Give it a little time and then try again.
