iPhone update

iPhone 7 with ios 14.2 broke. I'm trying to restore to my old iPhone 6S plus with ios 12.4.9. When I choose to restore, the iPhone 6S says iCloud cannot restore to ios 12.4.9. When I go to Software Update, the iPhone 6S tells me that my software 12.4.9 is up to date. What can I do?

An unit running 12.4.9 is an iPhone 5s, 6, or 6 Plus, not a 6s, and the backup can't be restored to it. You need to get a compatible model.
