I want to change my apple Id to my current email, however it says it's already in use.

Trying to change my apple ID. The email address I used originally is an old email address. When I try to use my current email address, it says the email is already in use. How can i get around this?

You cannot use an email address that is already being used as an AppleID or as a rescue or secondary contact with another AppleID.
