I have tried to connect two new WD SSD external drives with USB-C to a 2013 Mac Pro using the Apple USB-C to Thunderbolt adapter. It doesn't work. The drive isn't recognized. Any way of connecting these ssd drives to my 2013 Mac Pro to utilize the Thunderbolt 2 ports?

That adapter does not supply Power in either direction. Drives used must have their own power supplies.
