Can’t access email

My iCloud mail will only let me make a new one how do i access my old email? Does it have to be accessed with the old Apple ID login bc I’m pretty sure it will erase everything on my phone

Need to get into previous iCloud email I recently made a new Apple ID and didn't know it would delete my existing iCloud email off my phone. I have tried to add that email account to my outlook but it wont let me. It says I need to have an app specific password now but it still isn't really working. I have important emails on that email account that I still need access to. If I had known that it wouldve deleted the email account after making the new ID i wouldve waited or saved the eamils beforehand. Is there a way to either regain access to the emails or forward them to a different email account?

If you want to access your old email, you need your old ID. Signing into Mail with the old ID shouldn't erase your phone.
