Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter to attach DVD player/recorder to my iMac????

I got a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter cable. I attached it to my iMac and then the hdmi side into the hdmi OUT of a DVD player/recorder I have. I am trying to be able to use my iMac as a screen for the dvd player. Is this possible?

As you've already been told, no. If you want to play a video DVD on your Mac you'll need to purchase an optical drive. OWC (MacSales.com) offers a variety of excellent drives. I suggest a drawer loading over the slot loading kind. Then you can use the built in DVD Player to play it.


Note: if you want to play Blue-Ray discs you'll need a drive that is Blue+Ray compatible AND an app capabile of playing Blue+Ray discs.
