Compatibility of USB-C Chargers with Older iPads?

A question about compatibility of chargers with a 2016 iPad Pro 9.7inch (model 1673) and an 2016 iPad Air 2 with the USB-C 20 watt charger. While we have the original lower-wattage chargers for our iPads, for the sake of convenience, we would like to be able to use the USB-C 20 watt chargers with our earlier generation iPads. However, my question is whether the higher-wattage chargers would damage the older iPads?

My wife and I have two USB-C 20 watt chargers (we have the USB-C to Lightning Cables that one needs) for our new iPhone XR phones.

It's my understanding that these two earlier different iPads do not support USB-PD (Power delivery) fast charging (if that's the right description). That is not an issue for us. It's just a matter of convenience and simplicity for us. Thanks in advance for your responses and advise. Jim

You can use these higher wattage power/charging adapters ( with a corresponding USB-C to Lightning cable ) with no issues with your older iPad models.

These older iPads will ONLY take the amount of charge that they need to charge.

Your older iPads will be just fine.
