My MacPro 1,1 monitor is not showing a light, even though the MacPro shows all signs of booting up. Is the monitor dead, or is some part of the system not telling it to ‘come alive.?’
The most common failure is the graphics card.
What graphics card are you using, and what interface(s) are being used?
It seemed unlikely that both cards had failed, Grant, so I looked into the box wiring and noted one connection very slightly out. That was the problem. Thanks again for your help..
You likely abandoned thew 7300 when it failed years ago.
In some cases, only ONE output of a multi-output card fails, and the other(s) are okay.
a pretty good replacement graphics card (requires 10.6.5 or later) can be had on US eBay for under $75, a minimal card for under US$50.

So far as I’m aware, the original card is in working order; I saw in the description that both were alive only a couple of days ago, also, I thought that, as I could read both their descriptions as present they should be okay?

Thanks for the call-back, Grant. Can't remember the graphics card. I have two installed; the original is the 7300. I'll look into them. As mentioned above, I'm using 10.6.8 Snow Lropard.
I swopped the graphics card to the 7300 for the monitor but it still doesn't power up.
