Formatting Fractions in Numbers

The format for fractions in Numbers isn't working as I'd like it to. 10/16ths is displayed as 10/16ths and not as 5/8ths, for example. is there a way to have fractions displayed in their lowest common denominator? Like, 1/2 instead of 8/16, without having to manually set the format for each cell?

If you have the format set to fraction and accuracy to 16ths, you will get the results you are getting. If you change the accuracy to "Up to 3 digits", you will get the results you seek.

That is true, it tries to pick the most accurate fraction.

I assume these numbers are the results of formulas, not numbers you enter. Otherwise you would simply enter the exact fraction you want to see. I don't know how much accuracy you are going for but this might work up to 1/512ths

=ROUND(B2×512,0)÷512

"B2" would be replaced by whatever your existing formula is

I believe this will create fractions that are halves, quarters, sixteenths, etc. but it is rounding the result to do it.
