DO NOT Disturb functions chosen for me?

I want to have my call and message alert sounds when my phone is locked. Why does Apple have this function not available? There is a silence button on the side of the iPhone (red switch) that I use to silence my notifications. Is Apple looking into this to fix it? I have the newest model iPhone 12Max Pro.

Does the SILENCE in DO NOT DISTURB only apply when DO NOT DISTURB is activated? Does the SILENCE in DO NIT DISTURB only apply when DO NIT DISTURB is activated or is this for the phone in general. My phone will not send an audible alert when it is locked.

phone wont ring how do i disable the Silence feature?? in the do not disturb section there is a Silence section two options 1. ALWAYS 2. WHILE PHONE IS LOCKED incoming calls and notification will be silenced while phone is locked point 2 is ticked but i cannot turn this off I DONT WANT THEM SILENCED

Apple does not have this function not available. It works just fine for me.

So you have done something to disable this function if it’s not working for you.

Check your various settings at, for example:

Do not Disturb
Screen Time
Notifications
Phone
