Thank you,

I was just worried because I didn't want to loose the files on my old windows laptop because it still works, I just wanted them on the new macbook pro m1. I thought that when you transferred them over the were removed from the windows pc.

No. Programs that run on Windows don't run on macOS or vice versa (although many developers have 2 versions of the same program).

There are or will be some options to run Windows programs on M1 laptops but I am not familiar with them. The following has some information about one option: https://www.parallels.com/blogs/parallels-desktop-apple-silicon-mac/
