Mac is stuck in MacOS update assistant

my mac is stuck in macos update assistant. even when I power it down its still stuck

If that's still in place on startup, try Safe mode; go through

all the steps to make it run in Safe mode, then re-start after

about 30 minutes.

I've no 'update assistants' in my Macs, however I usually use

the manual ways; as those work as expected. ~ If too odd, an

idea maybe use Disk Utility; on its own drive partition. If M1

Silicon, different steps may be required to boot into Recovery.


Hold OPT key on startup, takes time, to choose other partitions.

This may help to choose a 'recovery' partition directly.
