Wi-Fi does not mean you have Internet connection/access.
Try switching mobile/cellular data Off and then use Safari to visit an Apple website.
FYI: To update iOS, you need Wi-Fi Internet access and not mobile/cellular data.

Yes i have wifi internet access... it keeps telling me it will update itself everyday at 3am-5am when connected to power
i connect it around that time but doesnt install the new version
i cant receive or make call cause of the problem
I am experiencing the *exact* same problem - can't get phone to update, can't make calls or texts until phone is updated, phone won't updated because it isn't connected to wifi despite being connected to wifi and properly utilizing wifi for all other apps. It's been multiple days.
I am connected to wifi AND have internet connection/access. I cannot try switching mobile/cellular data OFF because my cellar setting simply says : error : and no settings are accessible.
