My calendar has disappeared from my Home Screen. I go to App Store and it is there with my info but just says OPEN but
no option to get it back to the home screen .

With iOS 14 apps that can be removed from the home screen without being deleted. If you have iOS 14, go to the App Library (swipe left past your last home screen). From there you can touch and hold an app and slide it left back to the home screen.

The same thing happened to me overnight with the Mail app. But the app was NOT in the App Library. I'm now in the process of restoring the phone from a 5-day-old backup. Is this a hiccup with iOS 14.2?

Not that I have heard of..
The option to add to home screen is not displayed when holding the icon down in the App Library.

It is not an option that is displayed -- touch and hold an app and slide it left back to the home screen.
