Mouse scroll wheel stopped working in macOS 11.4

I just upgraded my iMac to Big Sur 11.4, and the scroll wheel on my mouse has stopped working completely. I was on Big Sur 11.3.1 before, and it was working fine.

I do use USB Overdrive to make some of the extra buttons work, but even if I remove this and restart the computer, it doesn't work. Interestingly, USB Overdrive does register "Mouse Up" and "Mouse Down" events in the preferences pane, so it seems like the signal from the mouse is working okay.

I've also tried reseting PRAM/NVRAM and SMC, doesn't help.

Any other suggestions?

I wasted nearly an entire afternoon trying to figure out the problem and just found your post so THANKS!!! And yes, the latest version, USB-Overdrive-50b7.dmg, fixed the problem.

FYI - I saw a thread on Reddit with others having the same issue. I installed USB Overdrive and the scrolling now works as expected.

I have the same issue on my MacBook Pro with M1 processor. I have tried multiple external mice and the scroll wheel up/down no longer works since the update to 11.4

I have the same problem with the same version (11/06/2021).

My usb-mouse wheel stopped working after the update for BigSur 11.4.

I also think that Apple should fix this. I should not have to rely on third-party drivers for this.

Yep it just stopped working - no way of recovering scroll wheel functionality.

Obviously they had the work experience kid working on this update...

USB Overdrive is not a fix - Apple needs to fix it in the OS surely.

it did turn out to work for me - albeit very poorly - with the old version of USB Overdrive removed. So I think that was at least part of them problem (for me).
