Perhaps:
It's circumstantial. Any battery can Fail. So, if this is occurring, then go for a new battery. Get one from your local retailer or Apple, and have them install it for you.

What does that have to do with the question? The OP simply asked if battery life will be harmed by charging their phone overnight. And the correct answer is no, it won't. frazzm37 gave the correct answer. There is nothing circumstantial about charging an iPhone battery at night and it is in fact the recommended way to charge iPhone.
