I get orange dot when making calls. No app has access when checking microphone under settings ???
The orange dot is to tell you that the microphone is in use, which it will be when you’re making a call.

Phone IS “just another app” as far as the “Orange Dot” is concerned.
Using the built-in Facetime or Camera apps will turn on the green “Camera Dot” too.
