passcode is only 4 digits on Ipad - iphone is asking for 6

Passcodes are fully independent -,each device having its own Passcode. The Passcode of one device is not linked or synchronised with another device in any way. Your AppleID Password, however, is common to all your devices (assuming that you are signed-in with the same AppleID account).

Whilst you may choose to configure the same Passcode on multiple devices, this must be done manually. Passcodes can be six numeric digits, four digits, or a custom alpha-numeric string.

When configuring a Passcode on devices with recent versions of iOS/iPadOS, the default is a six-digit Passcode. Older versions of iOS defaulted to four-digits.

Hi! You can actually change the setting to be either 6 or 4 when you set it under "Passcode options", it should give you the option to set a 6-digit, 4-digit, custom numeric, or custom alphanumeric code :)
