The iPhone 8 that I have is a work phone provided by my employer. The previous user has left the company and returned the phone locked. How do I get to now use this phone?

If the phone was controlled by a company profile then the company IT department may be able to release it, otherwise a company official will have to contact Apple with all the proof of corporate ownership.
