Set default view to Satellite in Apple Maps

A problem that bothered me a lot when using Apple Maps was that when I open the App it would always default to the Maps view. But since I most of the time want the Satellite view, I always need to change the view on the „i“. Because there is no setting for that, I created a workaround by using a Shortcut.

Just download the maps app icon and add the shortcut with that image to your homescreen.

I hope the people who complained about this earlier, will find this and enjoy it as much as I do now!

And if you want the streets and place names as well, do the following:

  • edit the shortcut
  • change „t=k“ in the link to: „t=h“
  • done!
