Need to find my phone

I am using I-pad to find my sons old phone my new phone not sure if it died or anything?

- The Find My service is the only recovery feature Apple offers. It MUST be set up before the device is lost. If you did not do that it is too late to do it now and there is no other feature Apple offers that can help you find it.

The chances of locating a device depend upon which features you selected in:

If this is another person's device the person who lost the device "can also use the Find My app on a device owned by someone in [their] Family Sharing group, or sign in to iCloud.com/find to locate [their] device using a browser.
