Just two little additions to what P. Phillips said:
a) the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences has been renamed as "Battery" in Big Sur.
b) you may also want to look at System Preferences->Displays->Display, and maybe uncheck "automatically adjust brightness".

Look in System Preferences >> Energy Saver and adjust as desired.
