If you are saying there is a Keynote file on the USB drive and you have connected the drive to the TV,
then that will not work. Smart TV's use jpeg files to show images.
You have two options
1 - connect a Mac to the TV using HDMI cable from Mac to the TV, then play the Keynote file from the Mac
If you have a Windows computer available; export to PowerPoint from Keynote (File Export > PowerPoint) and copy the PowerPoint file to a Windows computer that has PowerPoint installed
2 - export jpegs from the Keynote presentation (File > Images > JPEG) then copy to the JPEGS to the USB drive, play the jpegs using the built in jpeg player of the TV

That's helpful, Gary. My old iPad (v10.3.3), is the preferred and most straightforward way to run the presentation from, so how to copy the presentation from Mac (Big Sur v 11.6) to iPad.
Never used AirDrop before, but https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/keynote-ipad/tan316017f8e/11.2/ipados/1.0 was helpful.
The iPad presentation might lack a few bells and whistles, but not significantly so. If I can find the lightning-HDMI cable, I'm sorted.
Thanks for the support.
...and PS. It works if the lighting-HDMI adapter has power. Easy to add the charger to the power socket on the adapter.
