Slow iMac Hi Everyone I just need to know or find out how can I figure out which program or application launches or starts up as I turn on my iMac, please? I find it frustrating having to wait for at least 5mn before I get to use the computer. What is even more frustrating is that on a recent chat with apple for a different issue, I was told that my iMac 27" bought 6 years ago was now vintage. HD issue it would appear. Please help. iMac gets stuck while checking for updates System Preferences shows “1 Software update”. Wenn I click on it, it says “checking for updates”. Then it is stuck in checking for updates forever. Also, to see what updates are installed on my iMac, I do the following: Hold down Option while choosing the apple menu icon Select System Information Click the Installations Link under Software Under Software name it only shows several install dates of Adobe Flash Player, no macOS or anything else. What could be the problem? My main concern is that it won't be able to automatically udate.

How do I fix my iMac after downloading big sur? After downloading big sur my computer doesn't work. Tries to download but keeps getting interrupted. Help please!

From what source...

Slow how?

Try a SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

Takes noticeable longer to get to the login screen, does a 5 minute disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, etc.
