Why when I try to log into Facebook on my iPad I get no Internet connection? It works fine on my iPhone which is sitting 2 feet away on the same network. I did check and Facebook is turned on for cellular data. What else could be the problem?

IF your iPad is running iPadOS 15, use a VPN?
Try disabling it or, temporarily deleting it from your iPad.
Re-establish your WiFi connection.
If you choose, re-download the VPN and re-enable it and see if your WiFi connection stays consistently stable, or not.
Facebook, instagram and WhatsApp are all down at the source level - aka world wide outage
