With a 100w USB-C power adapter damage a new 11" iPad while charging?

I have a ale 2017 MacBook Pro with USB-C power adapter for charging. Can that charger be used directly with a new iPad Pro with no damage? I know I can route through MB Pro but directly from the adapter is my specific question
