So lately my phone (iPhone 11 Pro Max) will go into this weird glitch, where it pops up with a full black screen and a white loading circle icon. It would only occur for a few seconds and put me right back to the Lock Screen. A few minutes ago, it happened again. This time it occurred for a several minutes, shut down my phone, and my phone didn’t turn back on for a good 5 minutes. I thought my phone just ended it’s life.

Was this happening before the update?

You should have your phone diagnosed by Apple. Use the "get support" link above.
No this never happened until I installed iOS 15.1.
