External enclosure for Mac mini (Late 2014) SSD

I need an external enclosure for Mac mini (Late 2014) (Macmini7,1) SSD I'm removing, and I'm not sure which type of drive enclosure to get.

JAMF lists the SSD in the Mini as the Apple 256GB SSD SM0256G. From what I can tell the notches on the drive don't match any enclosures I have found so far.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Would connecting an SSD to my Mac mini through Thunderbolt 4 and leaving it connected all the time cause any damage? I've heard rumors that certain Thunderbolt 4 SSD enclosures might cause damage to the Mac mini's motherboard, but I'm not sure if it's true. External Enclosure for MacBook Air SSD Hi to everyone, I've recently upgraded on MacBook Air 2017 my internal SSD Samsung 128 GB with OWC Aura Pro X2 480 GB. Everything's going fine but I would like to use my 128 GB SSD as external. Unfortunately on Amazon I've founded adapter with different SSD type, so I'm asking to the community how can I resolve this issue. The SSD type is in attachment. Which type of SSD is it? Is there adapters compatible? Thanks for your time, best regards

New M1 Mac Mini unable to see SSD in USB-C enclosure I have an AUKEY 2.5" USB C Hard Drive Enclosure that I purchased from Amazon about two years ago. I have a 1 TB Crucial SSD inside of it. I have used it consistently with my 2016 13" MacBook Pro with four Thunderbolt 3 ports without issue. The SSD is formatted as APFS encrypted. When I plug it in to the MBP, it is instantly recognized and I'm prompted to enter a password. When I plug the enclosure into my new M1 Mac mini via USB-C, System Information reports it as being connected and even seems to know it's a disk. USB 3.1 Bus: Host Controller Driver: AppleT8103USBXHCI NS1066X: Product ID: 0x1066 Vendor ID: 0x2537 Version: 1.00 Serial Number: 0123456789ABCDE Manufacturer: AUKEY Location ID: 0x01200000 NS1066X: Product ID: 0x1066 Vendor ID: 0x2537 Version: 1.00 Serial Number: 0123456789ABCDE Manufacturer: AUKEY Location ID: 0x01200000 Media: BSD Name: disk4 Logical Unit: 0 S.M.A.R.T. status: Verified USB Interface: 0 However, nothing else happens. Disk Utility sees nothing at all, and the Storage section of System Information only shows the mini's internal storage. I'll note that my 2018 iPad Pro also fails to access this disk, even though it supposedly supports USB storage and encrypted APFS volumes. Any insight is appreciated. Is it just a matter of getting a new enclosure? It's hard to imagine what might cause the one I have to work fine with an older MacBook Pro but not with a brand-new Mac mini.

Thanks for the heads up. I did contact them and they said it was proprietary and they didn't have an enclosure yet I could get a PCIe card for a PC and somehow use that? That won't work in my situation.

The mini is dead and not worth the repair. It won't boot to drive and i just want to verify the drive is really dead and if not, use it in an external enclosure to migrate the data to new hardware.

So I really need an enclosure...

Yes I have a non Time Machine backup which will be a serious pain to restore for a reasons which don't matter here.

It would be significantly easier to use and external enclosure and have access to the data.

So I'm here hoping someone had a similar issue and found a solution and can assist.
