Why constant pop up’s requesting updates for included apple apps on iOS 15?

Hi all. I ran into a first for me. My iPhone 13 began issuing a constant string of popups requesting I update Keynote, Numbers, and other iOS included apps. The curious part is that no matter how times I selected ‘later on Wi-Fi’ they kept popping up. After two+ iterations of this I began deleting said apps. This seemed to end the loop.

Anyone heard of anything like this? More importantly, any suggested remedies?

Thanks and Happy Hollidays!

Why the Prompts?:

You are getting these prompts because they are important bug fixes for your device. As bugs are noticed, and reported by Apple's customers, Apple creates these updates. So, all Apple updates are important.

So, Proceed with the Update:

Use my User Tip:  Update your iPhone Using a Computer - User Tip

Use a Computer and Ethernet:

Start with attempting an update through use of a computer. If you cannot use Wi-Fi, then use Ethernet.  See my User Tip: Update your iPhone Using a Computer - User Tip. On the computer, you would connect it through Ethernet, going directly into your router. For a Mac (or PC) that does not have Ethernet, this would be the adapter to use: Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter - Apple. If you get the same error, the model is likely just not compatible.

By constant, I meant constant recurrences, one immediately after another, like as quick as you can (hopefully) select the ‘download later over Wi-Fi’ . I’ve never seen this before, I’d be surprised if anyone other than the dedicated attacker has either. Depending upon your age, you may remember, or have seen in a movie comedy farce, someone’s computer screen being overwhelmed by popups (30/second) …. Anyway that’s what I observed but poorly described…

in retrospect, I can only assume it was a hacking attempt of some sort. I had to delete the given apps targeted in order to regain use of my phone; this while, again hopefully, my finger correctly touched the Wi-Fi’not now’ prompt…

again this kind of thing happening w iOS I would hope is virtually unheard of.

thanks for your reply, but I’m sure we’re I able to ask apple they’d indicate: yes, it’s anomalous and no those built-in ‘office apps’ weren’t updated that night; nor would they ever script update dialogue prompts to infinity loop…

Thanks for the followup reply.

Update your iPhone:

By your description, it sounds like a trojan. So, update your iPhone to the mode recent version. And see if that fixes this. If of no success, then the easy way around this would be to set this up anew, as if you were to sell it.

Setting Up your iPhone Anew:

Use this Site: What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support. Erase all content from your device. Then start it anew. It would come to the startup screen. Proceed from there with the login. Contact the developers, if you need to reinstall something that requires as key.
