How do I know what MacOS version is currently on my iMac?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13

Click the  (Apple) menu at the top of your screen and choose About This Mac.

10.13 is High Sierra. In other cases, choose About This Mac from the Apple menu.

Click on the Apple menu (top left corner of the screen), then click on About This Mac. Then click on Overview at the top of that window.
