HOW DO YOU DELETE A SECOND PAGE OF A DOCUMENT?
iMac 21.5″ 4K, macOS 12.0
Depends on which type of Document it is. Pages makes two types.
Page Layout: This document type does not have a Document Body. All text in the document must be placed in containers (eg text boxes, or shapes) and each Page is also a Section.
Use the View button at the left end of the toolbar to show Page Thumbnails in the left sidebar.
Click on the Thumbnail image of the page you want to delete.
Check to see that ONLY that page is selected, and that the yellow Section boundary encloses ONLY that page.*
Press delete to delete that Section (an the one page it contains).
Word Processing: This type of docuent has a Document Body where the main flow of text is placed. New pages are created automatically when they are needed to contain the growing content in the document.
Delete the contents of the page you want to delete, and the page will disappear.
Clicking on a page thumbnail in the left sidebar selects that page AND the rest of the pages in the same Section. Pressing Delete at that point will delete the whole Section.
You can control the number o pages to be deleted by isolating that page (or those pages) in its own Section.
To delete Page 2, for example:
Click immediately after the last text on Page 1, then Insert a Section Break (Insert Menu > Section Break).
Click immediately after the last text on the last page (Page 2) you want to delete. Insert a Section Break.
In the left sidebar, click on the Thumbnail image of Page 2.
Check to see that ONLY that page is selected, and that the yellow Section boundary encloses ONLY that page.*
Press delete to delete that Section (and the one page it contains).
Regards,
Barry
* Clicking a Thumbnail image ALWAYS selects ALL pages in the Section containing that page.
In a Page Layout Document, each Page is a separate Section.
In a Word Processing Document, all Pages of the document are in the same section, unless new sections have been created by the user.
