Hello, dorothy 17.
An option to the good suggestion above by user Jack-19 is to go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy and adjust the time for "Require password after sleep or screen saver". Change it from "immediately" to 5 seconds or 1 minute... or another interval that works for you.
OMG THANK YOU!
That's been going on for months and I could never tell what exact maneuver was causing it.
It became a real issue when my daughter was presenting her doctoral defense on a zoom-type platform about a month ago.
My husband didn't know what to do when he lost the screen trying to leave the publicly open portion of the meeting. In an
attempt to log out, he lost the visual screen but could still hear the audio- and the frustration in the professor's voices as it
seemed he didn't understand he needed to log out.
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Go to System Preferences > Mission Control > Hot Corners and turn them all off.
Jack
You're welcome!
