Can I install a metal compatible aftermarket graphic cards on my 2011 model MacBook Pro

I'm trying to see if I can upgrade my MacBook Pro that I bought in 2011.

I want to get the latest operating system Mojave because software I have requires it.

So I am wondering if I can install an aftermarket graphics card in or externally that will allow this process.

Thanks for any help.

Another question I guess, if I bought a Mac mini would I be able to connected to my MacBook Pro and use the display and install Mojave that way or would that conflict.

That's not possible.
