Voicemail

I have a IPhone 12 and it doesn’t let me set up the voicemail. It says that I have to put a password and when I do it says that there is an error. I have try multiples time and is always the same thing

Voicemail on IPhone XR I just starting using an iPhone XR and I haven’t been able to set up my voicemail. I’ve tried changing the password- I get an error message, I’ve tried recording a greeting and saving it - I get an error message. What am I doing wrong? I have had an iPhone of various sorts since the second iPhone was released and I have never had an issue setting up voicemail.
