Can't type password to unlock hard drive in Recovery

Hi,

I got a mac prohibitory error when starting up my laptop. So i went to recovery mode to try and reinstall macOS to fix the problem, however I can't enter a password when trying to unlock my disk. There is no way for me to click on the area that says enter password no matter what I try.

No idea what to do and would appreciate any help

My Mac starts up to a lock symbol when I use command r or option command r How do I erase my Mac to reinstall and reset my password if I previously established a recovery key but have lost it. I’ve tried using the command r and command option r functions and it still starts up to a black screen with a lock on it.

Recovery mode. I start my mac from an external SSD HD, but when I start with the key 'Option' or 'Command-R', I come on a black window with a closed padlock, but with my password of my account I can not log in. The only way to change startup disk is log into my account and go to systemsettings - startup disk. How can I use again with the key 'Option' or 'Command-R', without to lose my apps and data?

Try a cheap PC wired USB KB & Mouse.
