mail not working after 12.5 update

The iphone 5S I use for international travel updated to IOS 12.5.5 After update, gmail works fine but att.net and sbcglobal.net email does not. Have tried to remove and re-add one email address. Now I can't even add it back. It always fails.


Any idea what's wrong or how to fix this?


Any help is appreciated

Set Up Email

  1. From the home screen, select the. Mail app.
  2. Select the desired email provider. Note: Google was selected for this demonstration. ... 
  3. Enter your email address, then select Next. Enter your password, then select Next. ... 
  4. Set the desired account sync options, then select Save.
  5. Your email is now set up in the Mail app.

Thank you for your reply. I have already tried the steps you provided. I keep getting the message "imap.mail.att.net is not responding. Verify you have the correct info in Mail settings." The email and password are correct. I can login to my mail on a browser perfectly fine with this information. Also my other newer Apple devices have no problem with these accounts and are working fine. This has only occurred since updating my iphone 5S to IOS 12.5


Any other suggestions would be welcome
