Cannot log into WeChat on iPhone 13 Pro Max

Hi, I got a new iPhone 13 Pro Max last week but I haven't been able to log into my WeChat account on it. I double checked the acct and pw on my old phone (iPhone 8) so I'm sure the acct and pw are correct. After I entered acct and pw on my new phone it just showed "downloading" on a blank WeChat Security Center page, and it stays on that page for hours without moving or a progress bar. I've tried removeing the app and re-install it but this issue is still here. Any thoughts on how I can log into WeChat?
