Files saved in iCloud

Why are some files saved/uploaded to my icloud while others are not, while all are under the same directory

If you open a finder window, look at the icloud drive in the left does it have a little icon next to it? if it does click on it, do you now get a window showing you how much it has to upload left?

Mr Leo, I see no icon on the RH side of my icloud drive. Thus nothing to click for further info.


Ref: I do see the std. icloud icon on the left hand side as follows in the Finder windows left panel/column

Where () is used replace a iCloud icon below:
