Unable to update Apple ID for use with Apple Pay

I have been to apple numerous times to update my new Apple ID and they still have not updated it I’m unable to use Apple Pay which you get more cash back points for vs using the actual card

Hopefully “update my new Apple ID” means you changed an existing Apple ID to a different email address, and does not mean you acquired a brand new Apple ID (so you now have two IDs).
