In the Notes app, how do I add a title to an untitled note?

In the Notes app, how do I add a title to an untitled note? I can rename a note, but the "rename" option does not appear in the "..." menu, nor is there a place to put a cursor to insert a title. Adding a first line of text also does not create a title.

Tap in the Title field (or the first line of the note) and the | ‘cursor’ appears.

Now you can add a Title.
