I had previously created a live action short with animated text titling superimposed over closing credit clip. I want to know if, and how, to go about removing the titles, leaving only the original live action clip itself.

I found when opening the project that I do not have the ability to select the title.
I must of originally embedded my titles because, as I was expecting to see what your screenshot illustrates and a simple elementary action, it has turned out not to be so.

I already executed the basic steps you mentioned, this is why I looked for help in the first place. Having said that, after the above mentioned steps, the "delete" did not delete?
Could be a bit more detailed in your steps?

Frankly, I do not remember.
So basically, if the titles don't show up above the clips in the timeline, then logically, I cannot simply delete the titles.
Have to live with the way it is.

The clip you’re showing in the timeline looks like a complete file with the titles embedded.
Could you post a screenshot of your timeline?
It should be as simple as this...
1) Select the title:
2) Press the delete key:
Open the project, select the title, press delete.
Or, better yet: first make a snapshot of the project, so you can keep a copy of it with the title, then open the project and do as above.
In your browser, I see two movie files:
one dated Mar 6, 2022 and another dated Apr 28, 2018.
See if the older one has the video you want, without the title.
The same...
Just so I understand, did I indeed embed my titles?
If you exported the project into a video file the titles are embedded in the video.
I suppose I'll take that as a "yes" to my question.
